Training camp with our Antarès rider Florian Angot

Antarès rider Florian Angot

Preparing for the season ahead

The start of the year was pretty full on for the 16 riders that took part in a training camp on 14 January organised by Armand Vallette at his stables. Both attentive and highly motivated, the riders were able to tap into the vast experience of our Antarès rider, Florian Angot. The aim was to resume training to prepare for the 2023 competition season.

Florian Angot: Antarès rider and Olympian

As an elite show jumper, Florian Angot is a familiar name in horse riding. He grew up surrounded by top-level breeders and riders, so it’s no surprise that he’s following in the Angot family’s footsteps. As an active member of the French team, he took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens riding First de Launay while Narcos II, Ulior des Iscles and Made in Semilly complete the list of horses that have featured prominently in his career. To date, Florian has more than 32 victories in international competition!

A training camp focused on preparation

Saturday was spent doing jumping gymnastics and movement exercises focusing on horse and rider. All the trainees felt at ease brushing up on the essentials. They had to deal with the main challenge facing any rider which is how to find the right jumping canter. Too fast and you might unbalance your horse but you need impetus too. The exercises completed during the training camp helped them work on this issue.

Sunday was dedicated to practising jumping sequences over a course. The participants left with priorities to work on, to improve and be competitive in time for upcoming events!

There was plenty of conviviality and good humour at the training camp and the entire Antarès team was delighted to be there with such motivated and decisive riders! We’d like to extend a special thank you to Marie and Armand for their warm welcome and to Florian for sharing his expertise. See you soon in the arena!
